HAVERSACKS AND KNAPSACKS

Item # 11-A...BLACK TARRED HAVERSACK

This was the standard issue haversack for Union troops, or for Confederates who took them off of Yankee prisoners or dead Yanks!

  Just like the originals, our haversack is made of heavy canvas cloth, tarred with black weather-proofing.   It has an inner bag liner, as 

well as an outside leather strap and buckle closure.

Item # 11-B...WHITE CANVAS HAVERSACK WITH TWO PEWTER BUTTONS

This was one of many types of haversack issued to Confederate Troops.  Just like the originals, it is made from simple

white canvas, with a rounded flap, closed by two pewter buttons.

Item # 11-C...WHITE COTTON DRILL HAVERSACK WITH BUCKLE CLOSURE

This type of haversack was issued to Union troops during the war (and of course, Confederates used them too). 

It is made of heavy cotton drill cloth, and closes with a leather strap and brass buckle.  It is modeled like the Black Tarred 

Haversack (Item #11-A above) and, like the tarred version, has an inner bag liner.
